Gordon Rowell named Managing Director
Elizabeth City Regional Airport
Starts new position November 1
Elizabeth City, NC, October 20, 2016 - The Elizabeth City Pasquotank County Airport Authority has selected Gordon Rowell to be Managing Director of the Elizabeth City Regional Airport. Rowell was the top pick in a field of 21 applicants. Currently Operations Manager of Pitt-Greenville Airport, Rowell succeeds Dion Viventi, who resigned in July to become Managing Director of the Rocky Mount Wilson Regional Airport Authority.
“Gordon’s experience at Pitt-Greenville Airport, which also has FBO and fuel-sales operations, mirror the activities here at Elizabeth City Regional Airport,” said Airport Authority Chairman Don Park. “Additionally, Gordon’s military background made him an excellent fit for an airport that operates under a joint-use agreement with the United States Coast Guard.” Rowell served 17 years in the United States Marine Corps.
Rowell listed finding new sources of revenue for the airport and maintaining excellent relations with the Coast Guard as his top two objectives.
“As an ex-military guy, I understand that the Coast Guard’s mission of search and rescue has to be priority number one,” Rowell said. “At the same time, I’m confident I’ll be able to develop new lines of business for Elizabeth City Regional Airport while operating within that framework.”
